Characters

General Information

Neon Abyss has several characters to play as who are members of the Grim Squad. Each character features a unique characteristic (some are passive bonuses, others are active abilities) as well as a unique starting weapon.

The player also has the option to start with a random unlocked character, that starts with a random item.

As of April 1st 2021, every character has pink fur has an alternate version through the "Alter Ego" - DLC. Those alternate characters have different characteristics and starting stats.

	Anna	As SPARK's best agent, she's been given their most important mission.			-
	Matt	A talented stuntman. He can perform some difficult moves. [Characteristics] Matt can roll forwards a short distance. Use to roll.		-	-
	Lucas	A retired soldier. He has a special liking for explosions. [Characteristics] Lucas can place an unstable mine which has a chance to explode immediately. Use to place mines.		-	-
	R-6	A highly intelligent robot which is still in the research stage. [Characteristics] R-6 can use only shields, as he can't have any heart containers. Also, he can preview the description of items without picking them up.
	James	A taciturn hitman, and an expert with all kinds of weapons. [Characteristics] James can carry two guns and switch between them by pressing .			-
	Ming	An outgoing gamer and friend to all animals. [Characteristics] Ming can preview the hatching result of the next egg. Also, you can use the to manually cancel egg hatching.			-
	Zack	A proud descendant of royalty. While traveling, he stumbled upon a lost art of swordsmanship and learned all he could. [Characteristics] Zack can launch a dash after he gathers his power, dealing melee damage to enemies in his way. Hold to dash.		-	-
	Saya	A test subject from one of Titan's secret experiments. She's an expert with the katana. [Characteristics] Saya has two different battle forms for ranged and melee attacks. Use to switch weapons between the gun and katana.		-	-
	Amir	A test subject from Titan's secret experiment. He's got some strange, yet strong, mental abilities... [Characteristics] Amir can preview the description of items without picking them up. He will lose one heart container on each level, and he will fly when he has no heart containers.		-

	Anna	As SPARK's best agent, she's been given their most important mission. [Characteristics] Two items will be dropped after Anna defeating the boss, but she can only pick one of them.			-
	Matt	A talented stuntman. He can perform some difficult moves. [Characteristics] Matt can turn into a neon shadow. Press to use.		-	-
	Lucas	A retired soldier. He has a special liking for explosions. [Characteristics] Whenever Lucas kills an enemy with bombs, he will get 1-2 bombs back. The more bombs he carries, the higher the explosion damage will be.		-
	R-6	A highly intelligent robot which is still in the research stage. [Characteristics] R-6 can use only shields. When he is near death, if he cleans the battle room without getting hurt, he will restore half of the shield and obtain and additional item.
	James	A taciturn hitman, and an expert with all kinds of weapons. [Characteristics] James can modify and combine weapons, but everytime he combines weapons, he will take extra damage on hit. Use to combine weapons.			-
	Ming	An outgoing gamer and friend to all animals. [Characteristics] Ming can consume one heart to revive the last dead pet. Press to use.			-
	Zack	A proud descendant of royalty. While traveling, he stumbled upon a lost art of swordsmanship and learned all he could. [Characteristics] Sword Dash gets more powerful as each successful consecutive hit against enemies as indicated by the Combo Counter. Hold at the right time to perform Sword Dash.		-	-
	Saya	A test subject from one of Titan's secret experiments. She's an expert with the katana. [Characteristics] Saya has two different battle forms for ranged and melee attacks. After hitting the enemy with her katana, she can slash again immediately in the air.		-	-
	Amir	A test subject from Titan's secret experiment. He's got some strange, yet strong, mental abilities... [Characteristics] Amir can preview the description of items, however, he loses one heart container on each level. With no heart containers, Amir gets the ability to reroll items and weapons. Be carefull, you'll get hurt. Use to use.		-

Notes

• Boss-Progress can be tracked underneath each character on the character screen. Each manager is represented with an icon there that is tinted in the color of the highest difficulty the player has beaten the boss with that character.
