General Information[]
Challenge Rooms offer the player a way to earn an item if they defeat 2-3 waves of enemies without getting hit more than a certain number of times (depending on the room variant).
They are marked on the map with an icon that shows two crossed swords.
There are three variants of the challenge room, indicated by the glowing neon-light icon shown on the right wall of the room.
Variants[]
Variant A - Minimal damage[]
- Marked by two green star icons on the wall.
- If the player does not get hit at all, they will be rewarded with a gold reward chest.
- If the player gets hit once, they will be rewarded with a silver reward chest.
- If the player gets hit more than once, they will be awarded with a bronze reward chest.
- The green stars will turn red one by one depending on the player's performance.
Variant B - Hitless[]
- Marked by a blue thumbs-up icon on the wall.
- If the player does not get hit at all, they will be rewarded with a choice between two items. When one item is taken, the other disappears.
- If the player gets hit at all, they will be rewarded with a bronze reward chest.
- The hand icon changes from a blue thumbs up to red with lowered thumb if the player fails the hitless challenge.
Variant C - Survival[]
- Marked by a "dagger through heart" icon on the wall.
- The player can get hit any amount of times and will still be rewarded with a gold reward chest.
- Monsters spawning in this variant are generally harder and of a higher tier.
Notes[]
- Challenge rooms sometimes contain a stone statue head that periodically fires a damaging laser in the player's general direction while the challenge is active.
- Challenge room reward items often have weapon level or stat upgrades, similar to the boss item pool.
